How to Start

Would you like to form a Chapter in your hometown?

Now you can!
If your hometown is not already listed under "Chapters", please follow these easy steps:

1) Read the KM Institute's 10-Step Chapter Start-up Guide.
This Guide describes the ten activities needed to form a chapter successfully, the KM Institute's requirements, the description of the fee-based model, benefits of membership, roles and benefits for the Team Leadership, etc.

The document can be viewed in a knowledgebase format, click here for a more interactive view of the 10-step Chapter Start-up Guide in SharePoint: hthttp://public.kminstitute.org/GenChapterInfo/default.aspx

Under Sites and Wikis, click on the Ten Steps to Chapter Formation Option.

2) Contact KM Institute
After reading the Guide, let us know if you are interested by emailing maria.madrid[at]kminstitute.org
.  As KM Institute's Operations Strategy Manager, Maria is dedicated to helping raise chapters worldwide.  Please send your bio, resume or CV along with your inquiry.  We will search for KM Institute Members in your area and see if there are others who have already requested a chapter.

3) Chapter Formation Confirmation/Signature
If you agree to the terms of the 10-Step Start-up Guide and as our new Chapter Leader, you will sign a Charter Agreement for our records and yours. Then you will receive the Start-up Activities Guide and a robust Starter Kit containing practical How-To's, templates, event planning tips, knowledge café methodologies and many other helpful offerings to get you started!

4) Start Promoting Your Chapter
KM Institute provides infrastructure and promotional support for your new chapter, starting with an announcement to our global KM Community and a request for any local members in your area to join/participate.

Now let's get started!  Email: maria.madrid[at]kminstitute.org.
