Ad hoc, pre-KM state. Get startup metrics – benchmark for future comparative results.  Monitor regularly.  Give attention to principle: 'Learn before doing' by developing a formal Learning Plan.   Anticipate communication rqmts. with formal Communications Plan.  Start with knowledgeable/aligned KM team; draft tactical KM vision/change mgmt plan;  consider implications;  build consensus on way forward.  

May need to partner with HR dept, especially if their charter is 'organizational development'.  Key KM Team skills: transformative change mgmt, analytics (metrics), KM Methodology, personal initiative.

Essential Training/Skills: CKM, CKP.
